Cardiox has developed and patented  a non-invasive method for detecting the presence of a right-to-left cardiac shunt to enable closure before the occurrence of a debilitating or life threatening stroke or heart attack.  Pre-clinical animal studies in early 2009 confirmed a sensitivity level of >99%.  The company has now developed a clinical/commercial version of its shunt detection product and is completing clinical trials at several leading hospitals.  The system is simple enough to be performed by a nurse or technician in an office setting.
