The OTAF Investment Screening Committee (ISC) is comprised of four
Member volunteers that rotate and one representative of the Manager.
At its monthly meetings, the ISC selects (by a majority vote) opportunities
that merit presentation to the full membership. The process at the
ISC and Members Meetings is identical: the entrepreneur makes a ten
minute presentation followed by 15-20 minutes of questioning. Next
the members vote; an affirmative vote of a simple majority of Members
present, and at least three volunteers to manage the work, initiates
due diligence.
When the due diligence team completes its work and concludes the
opportunity warrants an investment, it will schedule the entrepreneur
for a final presentation at a Members Meeting. At that Members Meeting
the due diligence team also summarizes its findings and makes an
investment recommendation. By a simple majority vote, Members present
determine whether to commence negotiation of deal terms and are
asked to express interest in co-investing with the Fund.
This investment process is designed to finalize the Fund’s
decision within 90-120 days after initial contact with the entrepreneur.
